I'm not excusing what the guy did because clearly he was a moron, but we are a lot lower than most vehicles on the road with all the oversized waste of space SUVs and it is probably difficult for them to see us. At least sometimes. Like if you are to the right of an SUV you can look up and not see the driver. Which means they can't see us.
